Media Relations Coordinator

Position Summary
The Media Relations Coordinator initiates and executes media relations
activities by identifying, writing, managing and regularly placing
news and feature articles which advance the strategic objectives of
the B.R. Ryall YMCA. He/She serves as the primary external media contact
utilizing media relations to keep internal and external constituents
informed about programs and special events while maintaining a positive
public image.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with
a major in public relations, media relations, marketing, communications
or a closely related field required.
Desirable Skills
Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills; commitment
to accuracy and timeliness in writing; excellent interpersonal and
computer skills; proficiency in Associated Press writing style, discretion
in handling confidential information; ability to prioritize and handle
multiple projects simultaneously; self-starter.
Experience
1-2 years professional and/or newsroom writing with progressive responsibility;
experience in public relations, media relations, journalism, marketing,
communications or a relevant field required. A combination of education,
training and experience may be considered.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Submission of minimum of three writing samples including at least
one new and one feature story.
Hours
10-15 hours per week; non-standard work hours (nights and weekends)
may be required.
