Childcare Volunteer Opportunities

 

PRESCHOOL/KINDERGARTEN STORYTIME READER

Impact the lives of kids by sharing the gift of reading with them. This is a great way for a retiree or anyone who has extra time during the day and wants to give back to kids in the Bright Beginnings Preschool and Kindergarten Round Up Classrooms.

Responsibilities

> Share the gift of reading with preschoolers and kindergartners in the Bright Beginnings and Kindergarten Round Up classrooms

Qualifications

> Must work well with children
> Must have strong communication skills and be organized
> Due to DCFS licensing requirements, all volunteers in the childcare department must complete fingerprinting through the state of Illinois, background check and DCFS volunteer training class
> Must believe in and promote the mission of the YMCA

Commitment

All regular volunteers must attend a mandatory volunteer orientation and commit to serve 1-3 hours per week.

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL HOMEWORK HELPER

Another great way to share in the lives of kids by assisting them with homework and activities. This is a great way for a retiree or anyone who has extra time during the day and wants to give back to kids in the Bright Beginnings Preschool and Kindergarten Round Up Classrooms.

Responsibilities

> Assist in Y's Way to Kids before & after school programs with homework assignments and activities

Qualifications

> Must work well with children
> Must have strong communication skills and be organized
> Must be at least 21 years of age
> Must have basic knowledge of 1st -5th grade curriculum
> Due to DCFS licensing requirements, all volunteers in the childcare department must complete fingerprinting through the state of Illinois, background check and DCFS volunteer training class
> Must believe in and promote the mission of the YMCA

Commitment

All regular volunteers must attend a mandatory volunteer orientation and commit to serve 1-3 hours per week.

BABYSITTING STORY Responsibilities

Read to stories to children in babysitting twice weekly (Tuesday and Thursdays)

Qualifications

> Must be a self-starter
> Must have strong communication skills and be organized
> Must be enthusiastic and work well with children
> Must believe in and promote the mission of the YMCA.

Commitment

All regular volunteers must attend a mandatory volunteer orientation and commit to serving regularly 1-2 hours every Tuesday and/or Thursday.
