Confidence with a Kick

Our son, Sam, loves sports, enjoys being active and being part of a fun group of kids. Sam also has Aspergers Syndrome and struggles with competitive and social situations.

After a few years of struggling with different sports, we made a tough decision to have Sam take a break from athletics. Soon after making this decision, we received a call from B.R. Ryall YMCA’s Sports Director, about a class called Kung Fu. He suggested we register Sam for the class as he thought Sam would do very well in it. We were hesitant at first, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions we have made for Sam.

Sam is now part of a great group of kids, his confidence and athletic skills have improved, and because of the hard work and leadership demonstrated in this class, he is more successful at school and enjoys recess. I can’t express enough how wonderful this Y program has been for our son.
