I have proudly served in the U.S. Navy for almost eight years. I am a single mom to son, Abraham. I too, face the daily challenges of finding balance in spirit, mind and body while juggling career and family.
Because of a partnership between the YMCA and the military, my family receives a free YMCA membership so that we can enjoy all of the wonderful programs the Y has to offer. Our lives have improved so much since we became a Y family. The Y has provided us consistent comfort, regardless of where I’m stationed.
I remember when I was stationed in Great Lakes, IL and I needed to find quality child care for Abraham. I learned of the Y’s before- and after-school child care program located at Abraham’s elementary school. I enrolled him as soon as I could. It became a safe and happy place for Abraham and I could work knowing that he was well cared for.
We joined the B.R. Ryall YMCA about four months ago and I have never met a friendlier staff. They personally greet me with a smile as I walk in the front door to workout with my personal trainer, to pick up Abraham from summer camp, to bring him to Youth Basketball or just to enjoy a swim.
When asked why I chose the Y, I can respond with confidence that it is because the Y is all about family, there are children everywhere, and it is a place to find balance and peace.
